What to Wear for Your First Aerial or Pole Dance Class in Maryland?

At Luna, attire is part of your artistry. Wear what allows you to move with confidence, freedom, and intention.

Before your first session, please remove all jewelry and watches. This ensures both your safety and the preservation of our apparatuses.

Here’s what we recommend to help you move confidently:

For Aerial Arts:
– A close-fitting top that covers your midsection and underarms (tucked in for seamless movement)
– Leggings or soft, full-length bottoms that cover the backs of your knees for comfort and grip

For the Pole Arts:
– A fitted top that allows access to the underarms
– Shorts that allow contact with the inner thighs for secure engagement on the apparatus

Special attire is not required; just clothing that honors your body’s range and supports safe, expressive exploration.

Wondering What to Bring to Your First Aerial or Pole Dance Class?

Here’s how to prepare for a focused and rewarding session at Luna Aerial.

First, step into the studio with intention.

To support your experience, we recommend bringing:

  • A refillable water bottle – Still or sparkling, hydration is key. Filtered water is always available.

  • A journal or notebook – To capture choreography, technique notes, or personal insights as you evolve.

  • A phone or recording device – Many students document their sessions for artistic reference or reflection.

  • A nourishing snack – Especially if you're arriving straight from work or need fuel post-class.

  • For pole artists – A clean cloth to prepare your apparatus (premium cloths available in-studio).

Complimentary coffee is available in the lounge before or after class; consider it part of your ritual.

Whether you’re arriving for your first session or your fiftieth, bring presence, curiosity, and a willingness to create something unforgettable.

Do You Offer Private Coaching?

Private coaching is available on a limited basis and typically reserved for enrolled students working within our leveled curriculum. We strongly recommend beginning with group sessions, where new students can build foundational skills and develop artistry within a supportive, curriculum-based environment.

Do Students Perform or Compete?

Yes; at Luna, students have the opportunity to both perform and compete as part of their artistic development.

We host studio showcases, community performances, and participate in national adjudicated events with organizations like Pole Sport Organization (PSO) and Aerial Star. These opportunities are open to students who wish to refine their craft, deepen their presence, and share their work on stage.

Youth students are eligible to perform beginning at Level 2, once they’ve built the technical foundation and expressive control needed to shine safely and confidently.

Adult students may choose to perform or compete at any level once they feel artistically ready and supported. From intimate showcases to national stages, we provide clear preparation pathways including choreography, coaching, and class series designed for performance readiness.

At Luna, the stage isn’t about proving yourself — it’s an extension of your practice. Whether you're stepping into the spotlight for the first time or returning with new depth, performance and competition are optional, powerful ways to celebrate your evolution.
