New Year, New Pole Curriculum!

Happy New Year, Luna family! 

We’re so excited to share that this year, we’re unveiling a revamped and revitalized pole dance curriculum that truly lives up to the incredible potential we have in our studio. 

The pole dance community at large continues to reach new heights, growing stronger and more skilled year after year—meaning the standards continue to rise. As the premier pole dance program in our area, we think it’s imperative that our curriculum meets these evolving standards and emphasizes our strength, our creativity, and our leadership in the art. 

We’re proud to make sure Luna Aerial remains the gold standard of instruction, because our students deserve the highest quality programming and all the opportunities that come with it. 

So what will this evolution look like in practice? 

🤩 You might notice some new faces leading your classes—so be sure to give our instructors-in-training a warm welcome! We’re curating an elite team of instructors to lead our students into a new era of pole dance expertise, and we can’t wait to see this evolution take place across all levels. 

💡 Classes may spend more time on core skills, and revisit foundations from time to time. It’s important that we continue to polish and build on the basics as we grow in our abilities, so students feel more than just acquainted with these skills, but deeply understand them. Without these foundations, students risk their safety and their artistry. Plus, most high-level tricks involve core moves to set up or create combinations, transitions, and more. Revisiting them is not regressing, it’s making sure we don’t lose the cornerstone of our skillset. 

🩰 The studio will incorporate more skill-building combos in class, breaking them all the way down to each individual move. This ensures students aren’t just learning tricks—they’re learning how to connect them and create actual combinations they can use to build stamina and strength, while developing an arsenal of movement they tap into for performances. The more we learn how movement connects, the more creative students can get! 

📝 Level pre-requisites might evolve. We ensure that students are learning skills that appropriately meet them where they are—and then challenge them. Level-based curricula will consist of moves that are widely aligned with industry standards within that skill level. 

As the art of pole dance grows, so will we! Our promise to our students is to never stop striving for excellence. There is always more to learn, and we will continue building our resources, our staff, and our opportunities for students. That means more competitions, more performances, and more skills in our tool kit.
