FAQs

Are your classes offered in a series or drop-in format?

We recommend that most students take the series route when they start their journey. Sculpting a dedicated, weekly or twice-weekly practice will provide the best foundation for success later down the road, where a drop-in approach to learning the material becomes more appropriate.

That being said, it’s your journey babe. Talk to us and we can work it out.

What should I wear to my first class?

The most important thing is to wear what makes you feel good — whatever good means to you. That being said, in order to protect our equipment, we ask that you de-accessorize; no jewelry or watches.

To protect your body and make your first skills easier, we recommend the following:

  • Aerials:

    • a top that will cover your armpits and midsection,

    • bottoms that will cover the back of your knees.

  • Pole:

    • a top that will leave your armpits exposed,

    • bottoms that leave some real estate on your inner thigh exposure (we know, it sounds weird, but it will help you hold some of your first poses)

What should I bring to my first class?

Yourself, just as you are now.

Snacks and light refreshments are provided in the lobby, free of charge. While we do have cups, we recommend bringing your own water bottle.

We recommend bringing something on which to record yourself or for taking photos (a cellphone, tablet, etc.). Even if you don’t want to share them, being able to review photos both in the class room and when reflecting outside of it can be a very valuable tool.

Students may want to bring a notebook or journal for notes and reflecting.

Pole students will need to bring a rag or washcloth with which to clean their pole throughout class. If you forget, no biggie, we also sell them for $5.

Do you offer Private Lessons?

Private lessons are limited to our regular student-base or accommodated in special one-off circumstances. Our focus and priority is on our community, so we highly encourage new students to start with a group class series.

It isn’t as scary as it might seem - everyone in class is more focused on themselves than they are you. Our community is built on a scaffold of encouragement, cheerleading, and support — you don’t need to worry about competition and cattiness in the classroom.

Are there performance and competition opportunities?

Yes. Absolutely. Performance opportunities are made available to students beginning at Level 2.

We offer twice yearly studio recitals, along with special classes and packages to prepare. We also are proud to take part in public outreach performances throughout the Frederick community and often open these performances up to our student base.

Lune Noire, Luna’s affiliate performance & entertainment company, also pulls primarily from our student and staff community for its team of resident artists.

Luna is extremely active in the pole competition circuit, specifically the Pole Sport Organization (but we like to participate in others, too!).
